Roundtable meeting on "Role of Academia for Safer Mobility" concluded
A roundtable meeting on the role of Academy for Safer Mobility was held on May 23 at the Central Department of Population Studies, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur.
In the presence of Tribhuvan University Rector Shivlal Bhusal and Yogendra Bahadur Gurung, Head of Central Population Studies Department, Bhagwati Sedai, Associate Professor of Padmakanyakya MPS and Coordinator of NASA Foundation gave a concept note on the importance of academy in safe mobility.
The program discussed the current state of road accidents, injuries and deaths, mitigation measures, examples and effects of data drive interventions, the importance of quality helmets, and the role of educational and research institutions in enhancing road safety.
Dr. Pawan Sharma of Patan Institute of Health Sciences, Ishathapa of Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Sanu Krishna Shrestha, Associate Professor of Dhulikhel Hospital and Binda Ghimire, Registrar of Nepal Nursing Council. He mentioned the need.
Similarly, Jot Narayan Patel of Nepal Health Research Council, Deepak Chandra Bhatt, Associate Professor of Far Western University and Mikha Shrestha, Assistant Campus Head of Sankardev Campus expressed the need for road safety curriculum and partnership with NASA Nepal to reduce road accidents.
Nepal Science and Technology Academy (NAST) Kikavita Pandey, Cyclist Entrepreneur Dr. Tara Lal Shrestha, Kathmandu Education Campus Sujana Shrestha, Patan Multipurpose Campus Dipendra Sijapati, Laxmi Basyal of Bhaktapur Multipurpose Campus, Ritakarki of Ratna State Campus and various experts expressed their views on the need to intervene.
The FIA helmets were distributed at a program organized by NASA Nepal, Swatantra Abhiyan Nepal, NASA Foundation to provide knowledge about safe helmets for motor cycling safety, road safety symbolic helmets.
A seven-member team was formed from the meeting in partnership with Global Alliance and NASA Nepal, an educational and research organization for Safer Mobility.
